Ancient Azerbaijan has more than 1,000 historical monuments. Numerous monuments belonging to the period of the Albanian state have been preserved to this day.
The tombs of Yusif ibn Kuseir and Muminina Khatun, the tomb in Barda, the Khudaferin bridge in the Jabrayil district, the broken bridge in Gazakh district, the Shirvanshah Palace complex, the Mardakan, the Nardaran and the Ramanish palaces, It is one of the best examples of Azerbaijani architecture.
At present, Azerbaijan has 24 historical, architectural, archaeological, cultural and historical and ethnographic resources.
Azerbaijan closely cooperates with the UNESCO World Heritage Center and the historical center of Baku, Shirvanshahs’ Palace and Maiden Tower were included in the World Heritage List in 2007, and the Gobustan Cultural and Historic Preserve. Two other pre-listed monuments were sent to the Center with information about Ateshgah (the place of fire) and the Nakhchivan Mausoleum.
